Macro

For this unit we were set the task of taking macro photography. As I am into technology I decided I would explore my home and find some interesting tech and focus in on a small area of it to make it look interesting, instead of taking a general front on shot of it. For this, I would be exploring different ways to capture the shot, Using the rule of thirds and aperture and zoom for depth of field.

My final shots are the following. The first shots are of technology around my home. I have used the rule of thirds to either place to the main subject of the image to the left or right of the image. I feel that the 2nd photo of the cinema amp could be used on Sony’s website to promote the product as it makes the product look interesting than a normal front face shot.

The second set are photos are ones I have taken outside in my garden.DSC02758 DSC02825

These 2 images from the garden have great depth of field, and makes you concentrate on what is at the front in focus. They have been placed in the centre of the image to show what is behind them, but they are slight below middle of the image to help with the depth of field.

This photo of the ladybird in the grass is very interesting, as you can see the real detail into the insect. Using a low aperture number (f.4.0) and a small amount of zoom I have created a big depth of field in the grass, and made a insert that was about 5mm long, feel really big. It is almost that we are viewing the eye of another insect that small in the grass.

The final photo is of my dads car alloy wheel. Although the wheel had a bit of dirt on it, The quality is very good, and could be used on a alloy wheel website or poster.

I must add, none of the images on this page have been edited from the original version, I have only cropped the 3rd photo and rotated the alloy wheel 90 degree clockwise.
